Benefits for Employees and their Families

Health Insurance

Health, dental and orthodontia, vision, and long-term disability insurance are provided through the Associations of Washington Cities (AWC). The AWC Employee Benefit Trust is a multi-employer benefit trust created by AWC to make affordable employee benefit plans available to the employees of Washington cities. The AWC Trust makes coverage available to more than 265 cities and other public entities, and covers more than 15,000 employees statewide. Life Insurance

Life insurance is provided to LOTT employees through the Washington Counties Insurance Fund (WCIF). The WCIF was formed in 1958 by the Washington State Association of Counties as a means of pooling the cost of employee benefits such as medical, dental, vision and life insurance for County and Special Purpose District employers throughout the State.

Retirement Programs

Members of the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) are typically employed by the state or by a county, city, town, public utility district, or local government entity. As a government entity, LOTT participates in the DRS retirement system.

  • Plan 1 is for employees who established membership before October 1, 1977.
  • Plan 2 is for employees who established membership on or after October 1, 1977.
  • Plan 3 went into effect March 1, 2002 for state employees, and September 1, 2002 for local government employees.

Deferred Compensation Programs

LOTT Alliance employees are also eligible to participate in two separate deferred compensation programs. These voluntary programs provide employees with the opportunity to invest in 457 accounts through payroll deduction.

The Washington State Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) offers the opportunity to plan for a secure financial future. DCP provides tax benefits by allowing the opportunity to automatically save a portion of your salary and invest it in your choice of 12 different investment options.
