Road Projects and Construction Updates

When pipeline construction is likely to disrupt traffic, a public information program is initiated to alert drivers about our construction plans. A newsletter is periodically produced by staff to keep affected individuals informed about significant upcoming construction activities and planned traffic disruptions. Copies are made available here on the LOTT website, via email by request, or at literature racks posted on project signs along the route. For large projects on major roads, news releases are sent to The Olympian and local radio stations and an electronic sign is used to alert traffic to disruptions ahead.

Kaiser Road Forcemain and Water Line Project

The LOTT Alliance and City of Olympia are working together to complete the Kaiser Road Forcemain Replacement and Water Main Extension Project. LOTT will replace 7,165 feet of forcemain pipeline from the Kaiser Road Pump Station to the previously replaced line on 14th Avenue NW. The City of Olympia is extending the water line along Kaiser Road to improve overall system reliability. Construction for the forcemain and water line is scheduled to begin in May, and to be complete in November. LOTT will make every effort to minimize traffic impacts.

LOTT will also be completing an upgrade of the Kaiser Road Pump Station and a spot repair to an existing forcemain on 14th Avenue. Upgrades to the pump station will continue into spring 2009, with minimal impacts to roadways and traffic.

Downtown Olympia Concrete Repair Project

The LOTT Alliance will repair concrete along portions of Columbia and Olympia Avenues in downtown Olympia this spring. The concrete, installed in 2006 as part of LOTT’s Southern Connection Pipeline Project, has cracked and failed in places and is in need of repair. Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions by consolidating the work and completing the project as quickly as possible.

Work will be completed in both the east and west bound lanes along Olympia Avenue between Adams Street NE and Columbia Avenue SW. Work along Columbia Avenue between Olympia Avenue NW and 7th Avenue SW will be concentrated in the southbound lane.
